Exploring the boundaries of photography, and pushing past them: that’s the goal. When we imagine a “photoshoot,” we often think of standing for a photo and smiling. This in itself is not a memorable experience.
As I started my journey in adventure and lifestyle photography, I noticed that connecting with and feeling comfortable in front of the camera was a common struggle for people. Simply being asked to smile at a camera feels awkward and doesn’t result in candid or authentic images. But you know what does? Exploring! To a photographer growing up in the Comox Valley, hiking, kayaking, and camping, exploration comes naturally. When I began prompting my clients to play, explore, and seek unique adventures, memorable experiences and authentic images came to life.
Exploring the possibilities of adventure and ultimately using nature as my studio has made my heart full, or should I say my soul full?
