Bronwyn Schuster (she/they) is a Canadian visual artist, born in the mountains and raised in the prairies. As the child of a folk artist and a draftsman, Bronwyn was inevitably fated to create. As a young adult, they traded the prairies for the fjords, studying at the Swedish Academy of Realist Art, before finding their way to the West Coast, and eventually to Denman Island, where they now live with their partner and two colossal cats.
When creating work, Bronwyn gathers inspiration from the local environment and folklore, creating illustrations that seek the magic in the mundane, and the ordinary in the fantastic. They paint in oil or use a mixed-media approach with watercolour, gouache, and pencil crayons to bring their creations to life. One of Bronwyn’s core values is creating public art that is free to experience. You can find their murals and other works of public art by Bronwyn on Denman Island, in Vancouver, and in rural Saskatchewan.
