My business, Mystical Tails, embodies the deep connection between humans and dogs. This journey began with my two Australian shepherds, Albus and Kiba. The challenges I faced in training them, combined with the birth of my daughter Octavia, inspired me to help other families create harmonious environments with their dogs. As a Family Paws Educator, I focus on integrating dogs into family life safely, particularly for new and expectant parents.
My training philosophy is centred on understanding each dog’s unique needs and behaviours. By using positive reinforcement techniques, I help dogs and their owners build strong, trust-based relationships. This approach not only improves behaviour but also deepens the bond between humans and their furry friends.
At its core, Mystical Tails is driven by this magical bond rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and love. My background in nursing has given me a compassionate approach to training, where the well-being of both the dog and the owner is paramount.
Using a revolutionary material in the pet gear industry
The need for reliable training tools for my work naturally led to the creation of durable pet gear. My husband, Braeden, joined the venture, dedicating himself to producing high-quality BioThane® collars and leashes. Have you heard of BioThane® before? It’s a revolutionary material in the pet gear industry: a polyester webbing coated in PVC, known for its durability, waterproof nature, and ease of cleaning. We as dog owners know that our pet gear is going to get rolled in the mud, splashed in puddles, and—let’s face it—who knows what else. BioThane® is a saviour when we’re trying to clean off the results of our dogs doing what they love best! Unlike traditional materials, BioThane® also remains flexible and comfortable for dogs while being resistant to odours and elements. These collars and leashes are ideal for things we love to do together with our dogs, from hiking in the forest to casual neighbourhood walks.
Each item we make is meticulously crafted from premium materials and high-quality stainless hardware to ensure longevity, reflecting our commitment to thoughtful design. Initially, we chose colours that resonated with us—dark shades, bright hues, and neutrals we loved. Today, we offer 19 colours so there’s a colour choice to meet everyone’s preference. Recognizing the difficulty of finding the perfect size of dog wear, we aim to accommodate all dogs, from the smallest chihuahua to the largest mastiff. We’ve even created gear for other animals like cats, a bearded dragon, and a pig! Our combination of personalized training sessions and top-notch gear crafted with love on Vancouver Island ensures every adventure is filled with joy and reliability—no matter how daring your pup may be.
In the future, I envision Mystical Tails as a community of dog lovers dedicated to nurturing the best possible relationships with their pets. My passion is to foster a supportive environment where dog owners can learn, share, and grow together.
