Skilled Indigenous fishing methods received great admiration from early European settlers in the late 1800s, and in 1925 the Tyee Club of British Columbia was established with the purpose of standardizing the sport of salmon fishing in our region. To become a member of the Tyee Club, you must first catch and register a Chinook salmon, 30 pounds or larger, landed only while trolling from a boat that is being rowed or paddled in designated waters near the mouth of the Campbell River. For all those who attempt this year, good luck!
