Living close to the Beaverlodge Lands, Vicki has easy access to the spirit-refreshing gift of a forest, which she had learned to love growing up in the Alberni Valley. Now retired from several careers involving teaching and learning, Vicki is thrilled to be invited to write about what makes Campbell River such a spirited place. She is especially excited that the suggestion came from her enterprising daughter, Alison!

Since her retirement from School District 72, Vicki has experienced the desert as a snow-bird (now grounded), challenged brain and body by learning to golf, and has been an active member of the CR Grandmothers to Grandmothers group, contributing press releases, Facebook posts, and shortbread. She also enjoys improvisational cookery, walking where she can see the ocean and/or mountains, and baking with her three grandchildren.
