Guided by a restless nomadic spirit, Simone has spent her life hurtling down mountain passes that inevitably end near the sea. Vancouver Island drew her to its shores in 1996, where she was captivated by its natural beauty and bolstered by the strength of its small communities. Settling in Cumberland galvanized her thirst for history which has become an unquenchable source of inspiration for her writing.

Growing a family and an urban landscape business connected the dots between Vancouver, Cumberland, and, in 2011, Ucluelet—the finest road to the sea that she has travelled. It is with gratitude and enthusiasm that she calls Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Territory home.
